DESCRIPTION:

The course will provide introductory lectures on methods in bioinformatics and biostatistics used for data analysis in different biological fields. The topics of the lectures cover single cell, gene regulation, Omics, COVID 19 , Microbiome and Cancer.

Due to the digital nature of the Summer School, data challenges will be held sporadically for some lectures. There they shall encourage students to build interdisciplinary teams to solve important question in bioinformatics/systemsbiology.

The aim of the course is to bring together students from different discipline bridging the gap between experimental biology/biochemistry, biostatistics, bioinformatics  and systems biology/medicine.

We like all participants to give a max. 5 min flash talk about their PhD project. This can be a poster or 1-3 ppt slides.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

After completion of this workshop, participants will be able to

  1. Improved knowledge of biological background of NORBIS related fields.
  2. Knowledge about data types and methods for bioinformatic analysis in NORBIS related fields.

EVALUATION:

No exam. Registration is binding and students must be present throughout the whole week.

PREREQUITIES:
No prerequisites. NORBIS members will have priority.
